G99 and the interface protection reality
For any grid-connected generation or storage scheme, the interface protection is the gate to export. It has to be set correctly, tested demonstrably, and in many cases witnessed by the network operator. We prepare for that as a specific work package: settings confirmed against the connection agreement, test procedures written to the witness's expectations, and results presented in a format that closes the point out on the day.
Battery storage brings extra interfaces
BESS schemes add complexity that traditional generation does not: bidirectional power flow, fast-acting inverter protection that has to coordinate with slower HV devices, auxiliary supply dependencies, and control system signalling between the EMS, the PPC and the HV protection. Commissioning has to prove the HV system and its interaction with those controls, not just the switchgear in isolation.
Working on remote sites
Solar and wind sites are rarely convenient. Test equipment, DC supplies and access all need planning, and a return visit for a missed test is expensive. We mobilise with the full test set required for the scope, and we sequence work so that anything requiring the network operator's presence happens once.
